Pet Cremation Pricing: Sources & Methodology

Updated September 25, 2026 by the FindPetCremations editorial team.

What a price on this site means

A published provider example is a price we read on the organization’s own website on the date shown. It is not a telephone-verified quote. Editorial budgeting ranges are estimates; they are not calculated national averages. Your final quote depends on your pet, location, service, and selected extras.

When an organization confirms details directly, we record the confirmation date and its scope separately. Confirmation applies only to the stated prices and arrangements; it does not establish every package inclusion or a personal booking quote.

Directory coverage is not a pricing sample

Our September 24, 2026 snapshot contained 1,697 published listings. Of those, 159 (9.4%) had at least one positive numeric value in the six private or communal cremation price fields we counted. A listing can have price text without a numeric value, and a recorded value can be outdated.

We count each published listing once, including separate branches. These counts measure completeness, not accuracy, unique businesses, or market coverage. An automatically collected price or a “scraped” status does not establish that a provider has confirmed it.

How we select and check examples

  1. Read the organization’s public service page and link directly to it.
  2. Keep private, communal, and other services separate. Preserve the source’s weight bands and included items.
  3. Separate cremation-only fees from euthanasia packages, transport, and optional memorial items.
  4. Record the date the page was checked. Recheck before presenting an example as newly reviewed.

The four examples below were selected because their organizations publish readable prices. All four are humane organizations, so they may have different funding, eligibility, and pricing from commercial crematories. We do not infer a national average or a state ranking from this small, non-random sample.

Published provider price examples

We checked these four organizations’ public price pages on September 24, 2026. Later provider confirmations are dated separately in the relevant example. They are examples from humane organizations, not a U.S. average or a quote for your pet. Prices, eligibility, transport, taxes, and package contents can change.

Wisconsin Humane Society

Wisconsin

Private
$250–$275 dogs; $250 cats
Communal
$45 dogs; $35 cats

Private dog pricing is $250 under 50 lb and $275 over 50 lb. Confirm the tier for a dog weighing exactly 50 lb. Euthanasia is separate.

Oregon Humane

Oregon

Private
$321.36
Communal
$107.12

Oregon Humane confirmed these rates regardless of weight or species. West Coast Pet Memorial handles all of its pet cremations and sets the prices Oregon Humane shares with pet owners. Additional memorials are arranged through West Coast Pet Memorial. These are Oregon Humane's quoted rates, not a general price list for other West Coast Pet Memorial locations. Provider confirmation recorded September 25, 2026.

Haven Pet Center

California

Private
$300
Communal
$50

Private service includes an urn and keepsake pawprint. Pets over 200 lb incur additional fees. Euthanasia is separate.

Suncoast Humane Society

Florida

Private
$235
Communal
$85

These are the DOA (pet already deceased) prices. Euthanasia packages are listed separately and are not included in this comparison.

Before comparing quotes, confirm the same service, weight band, pickup distance, urn, and taxes. A pet already deceased and a euthanasia package have different costs.

Add up an itemized provider quote or read how we check prices and describe our data.

Use these examples in a comparison

Download the 11 price rows as CSV. The file contains the four organizations above, with service, pet type, weight band, fee, limitations, original source, public-page check date, and any later provider-confirmation date. Eleven rows are not eleven independent providers.

When citing a price, name the provider and service, include the weight band and date checked, and link to the original price page. If you cite our comparison, describe it as a selected set of published examples. It is not a national survey.

Comparing quotes fairly

Ask for an itemized total for the same pet weight and service. Confirm whether ashes are returned, whether the chamber is exclusive to your pet, and whether pickup, an urn, taxes, and return delivery are included. “Individual” and “private” can be used differently by different providers.

Corrections

If a price or service has changed, send us the provider’s page and the correction. We review changes against the source. Inclusion here is not an endorsement, and the comparison does not establish availability for a particular appointment.
